This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Omicron-Zeta Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Nolan D. Pearson. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Pearson's name that will benefit an Omicron-Zeta Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Omicron-Zeta does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Omicron-Zeta undergraduates.
Brother Nolan D. Pearson was initiated into the Omicron-Zeta Chapter on November 8, 2008, where he served the Chapter as social chair and the go-to event planner for several formal banquets. After graduating from the University of Hawai’i, he moved back to the Portland area, where he started a career in event planning. In Portland, he was an exemplary hire for the Victorian Belle Mansion, where his hardworking attitude and attention to detail helped turn the business around and into a huge success. Unfortunately, with great heartache, Brother Pearson passed away four years ago from complications due to pneumonia.
The Brothers of Omicron-Zeta lovingly referred to Nolan as “Chuckles” for his infectious laugh and good-natured spirit that could make anyone smile. He was loved and appreciated by all Chapter Members and everyone else he met. Brother Pearson’s legacy continues with the impact that he made by inspiring those who experienced his character of immense love, acceptance, and cheer. With the creation of the annual Nolan D. Pearson Scholarship-Leadership Award, an Omicron-Zeta Undergraduate will continue to benefit from the lasting legacy he continues to leave on our Chapter.
