This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Theta-Rho Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Moby G. Goodwin. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Goodwin's name that will benefit a Theta-Rho Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Theta-Rho does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Theta-Rho undergraduates.
Brother Goodwin is a May 1988 initiate of the Theta-Rho Chapter at McNeese State University and has a rich history of service and leadership within our Fraternity. Beginning from his undergraduate years, Goodwin held esteemed positions, including Grand Master and Grand Procurator, showcasing his dedication and leadership abilities. Beyond graduation, he continued to serve the Chapter in various capacities, including Assistant Alumnus Advisor and on the Theta-Rho Housing Corporation Board of officers. He actively participated in Fraternity events such as Grand Conclaves and Leadership Conferences, demonstrating his commitment to the Chapter's values and growth. Moby played an integral role in significant milestones of the Chapter, notably contributing to the Chapter’s 50th Anniversary celebration and aiding in the Chapter's recovery efforts after hurricanes. With 36 years of Fraternity membership, Moby's enduring support and loyalty have been invaluable to the Chapter’s success and resilience.
Goodwin has support beyond the Fraternity by serving on the Board of the McNeese Alumni Association, further cementing his dedication to his alma mater and the broader community. Moby served on the board for 12 years in every capacity, including President. Moby and his wife Pam have been happily married for 31 years. Their son Gunnar followed in his father’s footsteps and also served as Grand Master of the Theta-Rho Chapter. Moby Gerard Goodwin's unwavering dedication, leadership, and service exemplify the true spirit of Brotherhood and Kappa Sigma values.
