This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Xi Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother D. Malcolm McNair, Jr. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother McNair's name that will benefit a Xi Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Xi does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Xi undergraduates.
D. Malcolm McNair, Jr is a 1969 initiate of the Xi Chapter at the University of Arkansas. Malcolm has served Kappa Sigma in various capacities for over 40 years. From 1986-2023, Malcolm served the Xi Chapter as Alumnus Advisor, and since that time has continued serving as an Assistant Alumnus Advisor. Malcolm has overseen the initiation of more than 2,300 men into the Fraternity. Malcolm received the 1989 Kappa Sigma Outstanding Alumnus Advisor Award and numerous Alumnus Advisor Awards from the University of Arkansas and the Fraternity during his service. In recognition of his lifetime of contributions, Malcolm was awarded the Stephen Alonzo Jackson Award in 2023. Malcolm holds Jackson’s Man pin # 84 at the Pearl level.
As a legacy member, Malcolm’s father, David M. McNair, Sr., was a 1939 Xi initiate, and his son, E. Conner McNair, was also initiated at Xi Chapter in 2003 and served as head Rush Chairman and Grand Master. Even Malcolm’s wife of 44 years, Martha, was involved in Kappa Sigma, tutoring countless young men in freshman English and proofreading writing assignments. Malcolm, now retired, was an attorney and savings & loan executive in northwest Arkansas and served as the Director of Development, Alumni Relations & Special Events for his law school, the University of Arkansas School of Law, for several years.
The positive impact that Malcolm has had on the development of generations of Kappa Sigmas cannot adequately be put into words. Malcolm’s name is synonymous with Xi Chapter, and he epitomizes the Star and Crescent in everything that he undertakes.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother D. Malcolm McNair, Jr. Donate Now!
