This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Beta-Beta Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Craig R. Poole. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Poole's name that will benefit a Beta-Beta Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Beta-Beta does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised between 25K and $50K or over 50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Beta-Beta undergraduates.
Craig Poole was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1951. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at the University of Richmond. Brother Poole was initiated into the Beta-Beta Chapter in 1970, following in the footsteps of his older brother Rodney (a 1966 initiate of Beta-Beta). Craig was “one of those people” whom everyone immediately liked and instantly seemed like a friend from childhood.
Craig’s presence at the Beta-Beta house was constant. Whether it was meeting, a party, shooting hoops out back or just grabbing a meal, Craig was always present. His friendly air was matched by his focus on the practical side of life as well. Craig held various Chapter offices during his time at Richmond.
After graduation, Craig went into banking – and true to Kappa Sigma principals, he always was the “go to” banker to many of his Brothers. His entrepreneurial spirit later took hold when he left banking to go into business for himself building a successful company where he continued to contribute to his community and his Kappa Sigma Brothers.
Most of all, Craig was true to his family. His wife Renny and daughter Isabel were the light of his life. Craig was an involved Dad – participating in every school activity possible. While cancer took Craig from his family and his Fraternity Brothers at age 51, his spirit has never left the Kappa Sigma House, and his memory provides a standard which we all aspire to.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Craig R. Poole. Donate Now!
