This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Chi-Omega Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Vann S. Mullis, Sr. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Mullis' name that will benefit a Chi-Omega Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Chi-Omega does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Chi-Omega undergraduates.
Brother Vann Mullis Sr. was initiated into the Chi-Omega Chapter on February 28, 1967. In 1997, he had a vision for the Chapter to have one of the first houses in the University of South Carolina's Greek Village. Many felt the concept of 20 houses on the other side of campus wouldn't fly, but Brother Mullis had a gut feeling that the Fraternity needed to prepare for a bright future, so he continued to press forward. He tirelessly raised money for the project, and the new house opened in 2000. In 2024, Brother Vann still serves on the house corporation committee and helps the Chapter with Champion Quest and continued leadership. Vann has a passion for Kappa Sigma legacies to experience the Star and Crescent in the same way he did back in 1967.
Brother Vann is an entrepreneur and has managed a large portfolio of residential real estate for many years. He has been married to his wife Susan for almost 55 years, and his son Stephen was initiated in 1993. Since his graduation, Brother Mullis has served, both formally and informally, as an alumnus advisor and a mentor to the Brothers of the Chi-Omega. No one has contributed as much time and mentorship for the betterment of the Chapter than Brother Mullis. He wears Jackson’s Men Pin number 2065 and exemplifies the Star and Crescent with his leadership in all areas of his life.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Vann S. Mullis, Sr. Donate Now!
