This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Delta-Xi Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Richard M. Edmonson, Jr. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Edmonson's name that will benefit a Delta-Xi Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Delta-Xi does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Delta-Xi undergraduates.
Richard “Richie” M. Edmonson, Jr. was a 1981 initiate of the Delta-Xi Chapter. During his time in the Chapter, he was beloved by all his Brothers. He served as the Grand Master of Ceremonies, going above and beyond in every aspect of his responsibilities. Upon graduating from the University of Mississippi, he attended Ole Miss law school. He effectually practiced law for over twenty-four years at Markow Walker law firm, where he was a partner within the firm. The respect he esteemed in his field is evident as he served as President of the Madison County Bar in 2011.
Brother Edmonson truly lived out the values of our creed. “Tempering action with wisdom” is an understatement, as he epitomized this every day of his life and career. Brother Edmonson is dearly missed, as he was a light to everyone in his community and those around him. The Richie Edmonson Scholarship will go to a Delta-Xi undergraduate who embodies the values of the Star and Crescent on campus and within the community, just as Brother Edmonson did throughout his cherished life.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Richard M. Edmonson, Jr. Donate Now!
