This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Epsilon-Eta Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Jerry E. Fork. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Fork's name that will benefit an Epsilon-Eta Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Epsilon-Eta does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Epsilon-Eta undergraduates.
Brother Jerry E. Fork was born in Fremont, Ohio, in 1961. He was raised in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1979. Upon his graduation, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until September 1983 as a Personnel Specialist in California and Illinois. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he directly transferred to the Ohio Air National. He was stationed at the 179th Airlift Wing, Mansfield Lahm Airport, Ohio, for the remainder of his military career. Jerry obtained the grade of E-7 Master Sergeant before being selected to be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and Personnel Officer in 1994. Jerry ascended to the rank of Major upon his retirement in August 2005 and served as Director of Personnel and Commander of the 179th Military Personnel Flight.
His extensive military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Achievement Medal. He is an in-resident graduate of the Strategic Air Command Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and the Air University Squadron Officer School. Jerry pledged to Kappa Sigma Fraternity at 27 in the Fall of 1989, having lived in the Kappa Sigma house (Conklin Unit D) as an independent student his first semester. He was initiated in February 1990 and was active as a member, serving in several Chapter roles and offices. A picture of his performance of Stephen Alonzo Jackson’s “Apples of Gold” speech was featured in the “Bononia Docet” for more than 10 years.
Jerry also served one year as a Resident Advisor in the Offenhauer East Tower. He graduated from BGSU in August 1992 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education, with minors in political science and history. He also holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree from the Community College of the Air Force in Personnel Administration.
Jerry has continued to serve Kappa Sigma with honor since his graduation from BGSU. He served as our Alumnus Advisor for more than 18 years; he has been one of our Chapter’s strongest supporters and continues to lend his invaluable advice to our Brotherhood on a regular basis. Jerry is a licensed FAA private pilot and also flies powered parachutes.
