This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Delta-Nu Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Michael E. Flynn. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Flynn's name that will benefit a Delta-Nu Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Delta-Nu does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Delta-Nu undergraduates.
Michael Edward Flynn was a 1976 initiate of the Delta-Nu Chapter at UCLA. Michael served as Grand Treasurer for the Chapter as an undergraduate and served on the Housing Corporation Board for over 25 years. Brother Flynn continuously supported the Chapter by hosting Alumni and undergraduate events at his home in Pasadena, California. Brother Flynn exemplified what a true Brother is by his actions and commitment to our beloved Fraternity. He was always quick to assist a Brother through thoughts and deeds.
Michael worked at KPMG for 40 years, starting as an intern and rising to Audit Partner. Michael worked out of the Los Angeles and New York offices, but his role took him all over the world. As head of the firm’s Internal Inspection Program, he made significant improvements in both processes and technology.
He was an active member of the Jonathon Club and served as president of their Board of Directors from 2016 to 2017. Brother Flynn also served on the Board of Directors for The Magic Castle. Michael was an ardent supporter of UCLA athletics and attended many games both home and away. Michael passed away on April 21, 2022, with his beloved wife Laura at his side. The M. E. Flynn Fund for ALS Research at UCLA was created in his honor.
The Michael E. Flynn Scholarship-Leadership Award will be awarded annually to a Delta-Nu undergraduate who best exemplifies Brotherhood and the Legacy Brother Flynn has left with us.
