This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Delta-Pi Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Jack H. Haaker. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Haaker's name that will benefit a Delta-Pi Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Delta-Pi does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Delta-Pi undergraduates.
For nearly 60 years, Brother Jack H. Haaker was the heart and soul of the Delta-Pi Chapter of Kappa Sigma. More than just an Alumnus, Brother Haaker was a mentor, leader, and steadfast supporter, shaping the experiences of generations of Delta-Pi Brothers. His unwavering dedication to the Fraternity and his lifelong commitment to its members left a profound impact that will never be forgotten.
Initiated on October 7, 1956, Jack worked his way through school at Southern Methodist University before beginning a lifetime of service to Kappa Sigma. He became Alumnus Advisor in 1967, later serving as District Grand Master (1977), Housing Corporation Board Member (1993), Assistant Alumnus Advisor (2002), and Assistant District Grand Master (2009). Throughout his decades of involvement, he played a crucial role in strengthening the Delta-Pi Chapter and mentoring its Undergraduate Brothers.
More than his titles, Brother Haaker was a guiding presence—a Brother who was always there when he was needed most. He welcomed countless members into the 12th Gate, offered wisdom and encouragement to Undergraduates, and remained a dedicated supporter of Delta-Pi throughout his life. His leadership, loyalty, and kindness made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
The Jack H. Haaker Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to an Delta-Pi undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Haaker has provided.
