This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 6-8, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Gamma Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Wade Rousse. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to establish a permanent $1,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Rousse's name that will benefit a Gamma Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. When the Gamma Chapter reaches $25,000 raised during the weekend, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award.
Dr. Wade Rousse represents the kind of alumnus-leader whose example elevates everyone around him. Now serving as President of the Louisiana State University System, Brother Rousse brings to Louisiana’s flagship institution a leadership style defined by mentorship, transparency, and a deep commitment to student success. A first-generation college graduate and Louisiana native, his career spans higher education leadership, economic research, and public service—each chapter shaped by a consistent belief that institutions thrive when people are empowered, supported, and treated with dignity.
What makes Brother Rousse especially meaningful to Gamma is that his leadership is personal, not performative. He is known for listening first, investing in people, and building systems that help others grow, values that align directly with the fraternity’s pillars of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. His journey from Theta-Rho to Gamma is more than a professional transition; it is a living reminder that the principles of Kappa Sigma can guide a man’s life at every level of responsibility. Gamma honors Brother Rousse because he carries the Star and Crescent into every room he enters—strengthening students, communities, and the future of Louisiana higher education.

There is no risk to participating in this special Named Scholarship because all amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Gamma undergraduates.
Scholarship-Leadership Award Applications open on September 1st every year, and winners are announced on December 10th.
