This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Omicron-Zeta Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Nathan Shelton. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Shelton's name that will benefit an Omicron-Zeta Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Omicron-Zeta does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Omicron-Zeta undergraduates.
Brother Nathan Shelton was a 2005 initiate of the Omicron-Zeta Chapter of Kappa Sigma at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. A devoted father, loyal friend, and dedicated professional, Nathan’s impact was felt by all who knew him. Born on October 14, 1983, in Aurora, Colorado, he pursued studies in Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawai'i before later completing an electrical apprenticeship with Local Union 68 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he was recognized with the Jack W. Sparr Award for "Most Outstanding Apprentice." Known as "Nate Dog" on the job, he took great pride in his work as an electrician and in providing for his family.
Nathan was a passionate outdoorsman who cherished time spent fishing with his children and bird hunting with his son, Carter. He was a devoted Denver sports fan, often attending Rockies and Broncos games with his loved ones. More than anything, he was a loving father, affectionately known as "Daddy Bear" by his children, Carter and Kendell. Though his passing on May 10, 2023, was far too soon, his legacy of love, dedication, and friendship lives on in the many lives he touched.
The Nathan Shelton Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to an Omicron-Zeta undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Shelton has provided.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Nathan Shelton. Donate Now!
