This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Lambda-Nu Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Christopher H. Eckard. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to establish a permanent $1,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Eckard's name that will benefit a Lambda-Nu Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Lambda-Nu raises $50,000 during the weekend, it will automatically double to a $2,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Lambda-Nu undergraduates.
Christopher H. Eckard was a visionary leader, dedicated Brother, and steadfast friend whose influence extended far beyond his years. Brother Eckard attended Appalachian State University, where he played a pivotal role in founding the Lambda-Nu Chapter at ASU. His commitment to the Fraternity was unwavering, serving as a mentor and leader to generations of Brothers. He remained deeply involved with Appalachian State, serving on the Alumni Council and the Yosef Advisory Board, strengthening the University’s spirit and fostering lifelong connections among Alumni.
Brother Eckard was a natural leader with a relentless drive for excellence. Beyond his Fraternity involvement, he was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Copy Plus for over 20 years before continuing his career with NC Works. He was also an influential community leader, serving as past president of the Wilkes County Jaycees, where he helped shape initiatives that benefited his local community. His leadership extended to every aspect of his life—whether in business, philanthropy, or Kappa Sigma, he exemplified the values of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service.
A true Kappa Sigma for life, Brother Eckard's presence was magnetic. His quiet but commanding demeanor, his loyalty to his Chapter Brothers, and his unwavering dedication to App State football made him a figure of admiration and respect. He understood the power of Brotherhood, always advocating for the next generation of Kappa Sigmas and ensuring that the traditions and bonds he helped build would continue for years to come. His legacy is etched into the very foundation of his Chapter, where his contributions and leadership will be felt for decades.
The Christopher H. Eckard Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to a Lambda-Nu undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Eckard provided.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Christopher H. Eckard. Donate Now!
