This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Theta-Pi Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother William J. "Bill" Price, Jr.. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Price's name that will benefit a Theta-Pi Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Theta-Pi does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Theta-Pi undergraduates.
Few men exemplify the values of Kappa Sigma as deeply as William “Bill” J. Price, Jr. A 1972 initiate of the Theta-Pi Chapter at East Carolina University, Brother Price was a steadfast leader and mentor, dedicating his life to the service of others. As an undergraduate, he served many roles within the Chapter that foreshadowed his lifelong commitment to the Fraternity and our Brotherhood.
Brother Price’s devotion to Kappa Sigma extended well beyond his college years. He selflessly gave his time and energy to mentoring young Brothers, often behind the scenes and without seeking recognition. As a District Grand Master, he played an instrumental role in guiding and strengthening Chapters, ensuring that Kappa Sigma’s principles of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service remained at the heart of every member’s experience. His impact was formally recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to his dedication to the Order.
Beyond Kappa Sigma, Brother Price was deeply involved in his community, holding memberships with the Hiram 40 Masonic Lodge and the Raleigh Scottish Rite. His professional career in chemical sales spanned several decades, working with Texize, EZE Products, Intex Products, and Calvary Industries. But above all, Brother Price was a man who placed others before himself—whether through his volunteer efforts, his work, or the countless quiet ways he supported his Brothers, friends, and family.
Brother Price’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. He was a man of integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment—qualities that define a true Brother of Kappa Sigma. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
The William J. "Bill" Price, Jr. Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to a Theta-Pi undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Price provided.
