#SAJGIVING HAS ENDED BUT THERE IS STILL TIME TO MAKE A GIFT HERE!
Alpha-Beta (Mercer University)
Support the future return of Kappa Sigma at Mercer University!

This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Alpha-Beta Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Thomas P. Bishop, Esq.

100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship and go directly to support the future undergraduates of Alpha-Beta when the Chapter returns in the 2027-2028 academic year.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Bishop's name that will benefit an Alpha-Beta Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity once the Chapter returns. In the event Alpha-Beta does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Alpha-Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund.

Brother Thomas P. Bishop, Esq. (Alpha-Beta, Mercer University, '79) has dedicated his life to the principles of Kappa Sigma, leaving an indelible mark on the Fraternity, his profession, and higher education. Initiated into the Alpha-Beta Chapter at Mercer University on February 27, 1979, Brother Bishop quickly emerged as a leader, serving as Grand Master, Grand Master of Ceremonies, and President of the Mercer IFC. His leadership extended beyond Kappa Sigma, as he also served as President of the Order of Omega, a member of the Mercer College Student Senate, and Chief Justice of the Honor Council.

Brother Bishop’s lifelong commitment to Kappa Sigma continued after graduation. He served as Alumnus Advisor for Alpha-Beta Chapter, Ritualist of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and a member of the Supreme Executive Committee, holding the offices of Worthy Grand Master of Ceremonies, Worthy Grand Procurator, and Worthy Grand Master. In recognition of his extraordinary service, Brother Bishop was inducted into the Kappa Sigma Hall of Honor in 2011. Today, he continues to shape the future of the Fraternity as Chairman of the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund, ensuring that future generations of Brothers receive the support and opportunities they need to succeed.

Beyond Kappa Sigma, Brother Bishop’s professional career is just as impressive. He is a retired Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and General Counsel with two decades of experience managing and leading legal, governance, and compliance functions in a Fortune 150 publicly traded company. His leadership and expertise in corporate law, compliance, and governance have earned him a reputation as a trusted and highly respected legal professional. Brother Bishop remains deeply involved in higher education. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Mercer University, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the institution that played such a pivotal role in his life.

Once Alpha-Beta returns to campus in the 2027-2028 academic year, The Thomas P. Bishop, Esq. Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to an Alpha-Beta undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Bishop has provided.

Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Thomas P. Bishop, Esq. Donate Now!
