#SAJGIVING HAS ENDED BUT THERE IS STILL TIME TO MAKE A GIFT HERE!
Delta-Lambda (Montana State University)
Support Kappa Sigma at Montana State University!

This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Delta-Lambda Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Donell R. Small. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Small's name that will benefit a Delta-Lambda Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Delta-Lambda does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Delta-Lambda undergraduates.

Few individuals embody the true spirit of Kappa Sigma like Donell R. Small. Initiated into the Lambda-Kappa Chapter at Eastern Montana College (now Montana State University Billings) on December 4, 1978, Donell has left an indelible mark not only on his home Chapter but Kappa Sigma across the state of Montana. His influence has extended far beyond Lambda-Kappa, strengthening the Brotherhood at Delta-Lambda and throughout the region.

As an Undergraduate, Brother Small served as Grand Treasurer and Rush Chair, playing a crucial role in the Chapter’s growth and financial stability. His commitment to Kappa Sigma was personal—he even contributed to the down payment for the Chapter house at 202 Locust, ensuring that future generations of Brothers would have a place to call home.

Even after graduation, Brother Small remained steadfast in his dedication to Kappa Sigma. Understanding the importance of a strong Chapter presence, he was instrumental in the rechartering of Lambda-Kappa in 2022, exactly 44 years after his own initiation. He also served as an Alumni Advisor and led the Billings Kappa Sigma Building Association (BKSBA), overseeing critical improvements to the Chapter house. His leadership extended to the greater Fraternity, recruiting Alumni involvement, supporting the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund, and becoming One of Jackson’s Men.

Brother Small’s impact has been felt throughout all of Montana, particularly at Delta-Lambda, where he has been a mentor, supporter, and advocate. His dedication to the Fraternity is best captured in his own words:

"Kappa Sigma has been instrumental in my success in life. The experiences, lessons, and friendships I’ve gained through this Brotherhood are invaluable, and I hope that every Brother has the opportunity to share in the same lifelong bonds that the Fraternity has given me."

To honor his extraordinary contributions, the Donell R. Small Scholarship-Leadership Award will provide future generations of Delta-Lambda Brothers with the opportunity to grow as leaders and men of character, ensuring that his legacy of service and brotherhood lives on.

The Donell R. Small Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to a Delta-Lambda undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Small has provided.

Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Donell R. Small. Donate Now!
