Gamma (Louisiana State University)
Support Kappa Sigma at LSU!

This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, March 1-3, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Gamma Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Frank W. Harrison, Jr. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Harrison's name that will benefit a Gamma Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Gamma does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Gamma undergraduates.

Frank W. Harrison, Jr. is a 1947 initiate of the Gamma Chapter at Louisiana State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Geology in 1950. As an undergraduate, he ascended to the rank of Cadet Colonel in the ROTC and was President of the College of Arts and Science. Brother Harison was awarded the prestigious Kappa Sigma John G. Tower Award and is in the Gamma Chapter Hall of Fame.

After graduation, Frank took a job with Union Producing Co. in Jackson, Mississippi.  Soon after, his professional career was interrupted by his commitment to serve his country in the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 as a 1st Lt. artillery officer in command of a front-line battery.  He received the U.N. Service Medal with two Battle Stars, a Korean Service Medal, and a Commendation ribbon with a medal pendant.

Upon returning from military service, Frank went to work in the Oil and Gas Industry, where he has had a long and successful career as a petroleum geologist, leader, and explorer.  For more information about Brother Harrison’s career, discoveries, and committment to geology, please visit this link: https://ksig.ma/FWHJRBio
