#SAJGIVING HAS ENDED BUT THERE IS STILL TIME TO MAKE A GIFT HERE!
Lambda (The University of Tennessee, Knoxville)
Support Kappa Sigma at Tennessee!

This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Lambda Chapter– the creation of a new Scholarship-Leadership Award named in honor of Brother Joe W. Jumper. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or other, will help fund this special scholarship.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to establish a permanent $2,000 annual Scholarship in Brother Jumper's name that will benefit a Lambda Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Lambda does not reach the $50,000 threshold during the Weekend but reaches $25,000, it will automatically create a $1,000 annual Scholarship-Leadership Award. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Lambda undergraduates.

Brother Jumper was a proud and devoted Kappa Sigma who embodied the spirit of Brotherhood, creativity, and service throughout his life. Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he graduated from Baylor School in 1978, where he was a standout athlete in football and basketball. Known as “All-City” for his athletic achievements, Brother Jumper’s time held a deep appreciation for teamwork, camaraderie, and lifelong friendships.

Brother Jumper continued his education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was initiated to the Lambda Chapter of Kappa Sigma. His passion for theater, music, and creativity flourished during his time at UT, where he wrote, choreographed, and directed award-winning Carnicus skits which placed #1st overall, leaving an enduring mark on the University’s campus life. His ability to bring people together through humor, performance, and leadership exemplified the values of Fellowship and Service that define Kappa Sigma.

Following graduation, Brother Jumper pursued a career in retail merchandising and design, eventually founding The Clay Pot, a beloved Chattanooga business that became a hub for creativity and community. For 34 years, Brother Jumper and his team—affectionately known as "The Potters"—transformed customers' visions into reality, creating floral designs and unique experiences that brought joy to countless people. Brother Jumper’s kindness and artistic spirit touched lives in immeasurable ways.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Brother Jumper was known as "everyone's biggest cheerleader." His boundless energy, compassion, and humor uplifted those around him, making him an inspiration to family, friends, and Brothers alike. His life was a testament to the Four Pillars of Kappa Sigma—Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service—and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of Kappa Sigmas who follow in his footsteps.

The Lambda Chapter is honored to celebrate the life and memory of Brother Joe W. Jumper, ensuring that his spirit of Brotherhood, creativity, and unwavering positivity lives on.

The Joe W. Jumper Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to a Lambda undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example Brother Jumper has provided.

Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of Brother Joe W. Jumper. Donate Now!
