This Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, we're asking you to make a tax-deductible donation to support a cause near and dear to the Beta-Upsilon Chapter– the creation of a new Disbrow Family Named Scholarship-Leadership Award. 100% of your gift, in the amount of $10.34, $50.34, $150.34, $340, $3,400, or $34,000, will help fund this special scholarship.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to establish a permanent $1,000 annual Scholarship in the Disbrow Family name that will benefit a Beta-Upsilon Chapter Brother every year in perpetuity. In the event Beta-Upsilon raises $50,000 during the Weekend, the annual scholarship will automatically double to $2,000 annually. All amounts raised shy of $25K between or over $50K will be directed to the existing Chapter Scholarship Fund to benefit Beta-Upsilon undergraduates.
Brothers Jason, Josh and Jarrett Disbrow, from Raleigh, are proud initiates of the Beta-Upsilon Chapter and relish their shared family connection to the Chapter to this day. Jason (1990 initiate) and twins, Josh and Jarrett (1994 initiates) were actively involved in the Chapter during their time at NC State and have been blessed by their long-standing relationships with many of their Beta Upsilon Brothers to this day.
While at NC State, the brothers held various leadership positions in the Chapter including Jarrett leading the Chapter as Grand Master in addition to serving as Rush Chairman and Alumni Chairman; Jarrett was proud to be ritual proficient. Josh served as Grand Master of Ceremonies as well as Social Chairman for consecutive years and was also ritual proficient. Additionally, Josh’s wife of over 25 years, Lesley, was the Beta Upsilon Sweetheart for two years. For his part, Jason never missed a party or an Intramural sporting event and was always there for his Brothers. Josh and Jarrett are indebted to their “big brother” for beginning the Beta-Upsilon family legacy. The lessons learned as Beta-Upsilon Brothers helped to set a strong foundation for all three brothers in their personal relationships and future professional pursuits.
Following graduation from NC State, the Disbrow brothers pursued their professional passions and have enjoyed successful careers in their respective fields. Shortly after graduating from NC State, Jason obtained his law degree from NC Central University and subsequently went on to build a successful law practice in Southport, NC. Following an almost 20-year private law career, Jason became a District Court Judge then, later, a North Carolina Superior Court Judge – a position he currently holds as Senior Resident Superior Court Judge for District 15B. Jason is an active member of his church and he and his wife, Kristie, have a thriving ministry that serves children in need.
Jarrett and Josh have enjoyed almost 30-year careers in the pharmaceutical industry – the same industry their father, Cliff, worked in for most of his career (and the reason The Disbrows arrived in North Carolina in 1987). Following graduation, Josh and Jarrett began their pharmaceutical careers with GlaxoSmithKline before pursuing start-up opportunities in the biopharma sector. In 2006 Josh and Jarrett joined forces to begin their entrepreneurial journey when they started their first company, Arbor Pharmaceuticals, which they successfully built and eventually sold in 2015. Following the sale of Arbor, Josh and Jarrett founded their second company, Aytu BioPharma, which they operate - along with a talented team - to this day.
The Disbrow Brothers are proud to be named “Beloved Brothers” and are appreciative of the many memories, lessons learned, and lifelong bonds created as a result of being a part of Beta-Upsilon and Kappa Sigma in general. The Disbrow Family Beloved Brother scholarship is established to help future Beta-Upsilon Brothers actualize the many benefits, relationships and lessons learned as a result of being part of our beloved and lifelong Brotherhood. “Not for a day, or an hour, or a college term only, but for life.”
The Disbrow Family Named Scholarship-Leadership Award will be given annually to a Beta-Upsilon undergraduate member who excels in scholarship, leadership, and community service, all of which reflect the example the Disbrow Family has provided.
Now is the time to rally behind this historic initiative and honor the lasting legacy of the Disbrow Family. Donate Now!
